If you’ve been following along with my 6 Weeks of Nesting series, you know it has been a whirlwind of organizing, decluttering, deep cleaning, and prepping for baby number two. And guess what? I did it—I officially completed everything on my nesting checklist!
From tackling the chaos in my closets, to stocking up the nursery, to getting my son’s room ready for his big brother role, it’s all done. Looking back, I can honestly say that breaking everything into six focused weeks was the best decision I made. Instead of feeling overwhelmed with a mile-long to-do list, I got to actually enjoy the process of preparing for our new arrival.
The Highlights of My 6 Weeks of Nesting
Here’s a quick recap of what I accomplished:
- Decluttering + Deep Cleaning: I cleared out old clothes, furniture, and baby gear we no longer needed and gave the house a true reset.
- Nursery Prep: Ordered and assembled furniture, organized baby clothes, stocked the changing table, and tested the baby monitor.
- Packing the Nursery Bag: I prepped a ready-to-go nursery bag filled with baby essentials for quick access during those early days.
- Organizing for Two Kids: I made sure everything had a home—diapers, wipes, bottles, toys—so life feels a little more manageable once we’re in the newborn fog.
- Creating Stations Around the House: I set up bottle stations, diapering stations, and postpartum recovery stations so I don’t have to run from room to room when things get busy.
- Meal & Home Prep: Freezer meals are ready, the fridge and pantry are stocked, and my car seat is installed.
- Administrative To-Dos: Hospital registration, updating our will, and setting up cord blood/tissue banking are checked off the list.
Honestly, the biggest game-changer was keeping everything structured week by week. Nesting can feel never-ending if you don’t have a plan—but with a checklist, you really can finish it all.
